You will be responsible for overall financial management and systems development, strategic financial planning, financial proposal development, internal and external audit and donor compliance and oversee the administration of the operations of AKUPA.
ensuring that the programmes are in compliance with all the grant agreements, budget and the requirements
financial management of multi-year, multi centre external grants of the AKUPA
reviewing all financial proposals including budgets, grant agreements and financial reports with respective donors / agencies
leading the external audit of the grants and coordinate for internal audits
helping relevant stakeholders in developing grant proposal in accordance with the guidelines
monitoring work processes, procedures and establish programmes which drive performance towards organizational goals
reviewing and evaluating assignments to ensure quality control in line with Institution’s policies and procedures
reviewing and submission of monthly, quarterly and annual reports to internal and external auditors and granting agencies
supporting programmes in Badakhshan and other regions of Afghanistan
working in coordination with the Finance Department of the French Medical Institute of Children, Kabul and other AKDN entities in Afghanistan
representing department in management meetings, committees and forums as and when required
supervising books of accounts in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (e.g. cash book, petty cash book, general ledger, fixed assets register, subsidiary records for receivables and payables, etc.)
developing, reviewing, analyzing, compiling, finalizing the budget of operating activities as well as of funding projects, getting it authorized, sending it to granting agency for approval and ensuring that all the programme comply with it
supervising the administrative, procurement and logistics activities of the Programme
a finance degree i.e CA/ACCA/ACMA or equivalent from a reputable university
at least five years of experience at a management level, NGO experience will be preferred
good knowledge of accounting systems preferably PeopleSoft
proficiency in computers especially MS Office
excellent leadership, analytical and interpersonal skills
ability to demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of other cultures, values and belief systems
ability to demonstrate adaptability, flexibility and tolerance for ambiguity
