Job Summary

Pajhwok Afghan News aims to reflect the local news via monitoring the local/regional media outlets’ content

Organizational Structure:

The Media Monitors will work independently in his/her relevant location; listen to or reed or watch the content produced by local media outlets. He/she will send the recordings and drafts of the programs/news bulletins to the project assistant. The media monitors will respond to the project coordinator through one of the two project assistants.

Media Monitor’s Responsibilities:

The media monitors draft the content produced by the local media outlets and sends those contents to the HQ on daily basis and every hour; as well as, he/she will record the programs and send the hard copy (CD/Paper) to Kabul twice a week.

Duties & Responsibilities

- Set up offices or request the requirements if any.

- Establish reporting formats and template for monitoring

- Do a research on the quantity, quality and schedule of the local media outlets

- Monitor the local print, audio, and visual media outlets.

- Send the hourly broadcasted content to HQ

- Send the recordings twice or three times a week.

- Plan follow-on monitoring schedules

- Provide documents required for financial report

- establish and maintain constructive working relationships with regional media outlets and station managers

- provide ongoing feedback to Pajhwok's regional reporters working in the regional office

- Gather summary data from the radio monitors as requested by the HQ.

- prepare weekly, biweekly, monthly and quarterly report of his/her performance and achievements.

- Perform other duties as per the request of the Main Office.

Experience:

3-5 years working experience with media.
Experience in writing clear reports and summarized data
Experience and ease with online and digital technology
Experienced/Interested in working in journalism related activities.
Gender: Male/Female

Job Requirements

Qualification:

Excellent written communication skills
Excellent analytical and summarizing skills
Excellent ability to think critically and interpret data
Bachelor's degree or equivalent education or work experience, preferably in a field of journalism, literature, or media.
Ability and maturity to work independently and productively, without direct supervision
Fluency in Dari AND Pashto preferred
Knowledge of English a plus

Strong interpersonal and communication Skills
