Turquoise Mountain is a non-profit, non-governmental organization specializing in urban regeneration, business development, and education in traditional arts and architecture. We seek to provide education, skills and livelihoods to Afghan men and women. Since 2006 Turquoise Mountain has cleared 45,000 cubic meters of rubbish from the streets, restored or built 150 historic and community buildings, created a primary school and a clinic, and installed water, electricity, and sanitation through the historic traditional craft neighborhood of Murad Khani in the old city of Kabul. It has created the internationally accredited Institute for Afghan Arts & Architecture, training the next generation of craftsmen and women in woodwork, jewelry and gem cutting, calligraphy and miniature painting, and ceramics. Finally, it has sold over US$15,000,000 of Afghan artisan products internationally.

Job Summary

As a Miniature Painting teacher, she is responsible for teaching Behzad style of Miniature Painting subject and Natural Color Making (Pigment) and managing classes based on academic standards. her duties will range from the preparation of course work, planning of classes and the marking of work handed in. On top of this she will also have to arrange some extracurricular activities and set targets for the pupils. she will also be responsible for the safety of pupils during the lessons. he must report from all her class related activities to head of department, she will teach Miniature Painting and Natural Color Making (Pigment) techniques to the 13th-15th class students based on the current curriculum. As art master of Miniature Painting, she will also have the responsibility to review this subject’s current curriculum or produce a new one if required.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Teaching Miniature Painting Techniques according to the available curricula guideline the Behzad style of miniature painting.
  • Teaching practical classes of Natural Color Making (Pigment).
  • Leading the students towards a high level of Art skills.
  • Preparing and delivering lessons to a range of classes.
  • Marking work, giving appropriate feedback, and maintaining records of students’ Progress and development.
  • Selecting and using a range of different learning resources and equipment.
  • Undertaking pastoral duties and supporting students on an individual basis through academic or personal difficulties.
  • Preparing students for qualifications and external examinations.
  • Managing students’ behavior in the classroom and on school premises and applying appropriate and effective measures in cases of misbehavior.
  • Participating in departmental meetings and whole school training events.
  • Liaising with other professionals, such as Head of Departments and Education Senior Officer.
  • Teaching in the institute workshops in the main compound as well as other scheduled classes out of TM compounds,
  • Plans lessons in line with targeted objectives to ensure that students learn.
  • Support, observe and record the progress of his class. He also plans lessons in line with targeted objectives with the aim of ensuring a healthy culture of learning.
  • Keep up to date with developments in their subject area, new resources, methods, and objectives. The instructor liaises and networks with other professionals, parents, and careers both informally and formally.
  • Daily school supervision.
  • Other tasks given by TM authorities or by line manager.  


Job Requirements

- Diploma in Miniature painting 

- Minimum 3 years of formal training experience

- Proficiency in diverse Miniature painting styles and techniques

- Strong teaching and communication skills
