REMUNERATION:
 The remuneration / fee for the post of National Consultant - SDGS is USD 100 daily, based on the qualification and experience of the candidate.


Project Background:

At a UN Summit (25-27 September 2015), Member States of the United Nations adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development with a set of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at its core. It officially came into effect upon expiry of the Millennium Development Goals on 1 January 2016, will run through 2030 and applies to every country of the United Nations. The Agenda strives for a world that is just, rights-based, equitable and inclusive. It commits stakeholders to work together to promote sustained and inclusive economic growth, social development and environmental protection and to benefit all, including women, children, youth and future generations. As an specialized UN agency, FAO’s monitoring expertise, experience working alongside partners and support to policy design, technical practices and participatory governance is assisting countries to implement the 2030 Agenda. With a strategic framework aligned to the SDGs, FAO works in close collaboration with relevant ministries on monitoring and reporting of SDGs and; contribute to support counterparts to in incorporate SDG agenda in “National Action Plan”.

Duties & Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities:

Under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative (FAOR) / Country Director, the technical supervision of the Lead Technical Officer/RAP and in close collaboration and technical guidance of the FIRST Policy Officer, the National Consultant will perform the following tasks;

 Assist in coordinating the meetings, workshop/training related to SDGs with MAIL and other relevant stakeholders;
 Review the rule and responsibility of the stakeholders on SDGs implementation, monitoring, and reporting,
 Organize stakeholders consultation workshop on SDGs at National and Provincial for localization of SDGs targets and indicators;
 Prepare the report of the workshop/training and disseminate to relevant stakeholders;
 Organize meetings for the international with different stakeholders,
 Desk review and data collection related to SDGs;
 Updating the SDGs list whenever there is changes at global level or by the Ministry of Economy and Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock - Afghanistan;
 Support the process of data collection and monitoring of indicators at provincial level,
 Prepare implementation and reporting plans against targeted indicators of MAIL and other FAO’s counterparts for the SDGs implementation
 Perform any other related duties as may be directed by FAOR and the FIRST Policy or other authorized FAO staff.

Job Requirements

Education:
 University Degree in Agriculture, Food Security, Natural Resource Management, Business Administration or equivalent experience in a national or international agencies.

Work Experience:
 At least five (05) years of professional experience in coordination, networking, project implementation and development with special knowledge and experience in Agriculture development, as well as poverty reduction and economic growth; training need assessment and or subject affairs.
 Experience and knowledge of the FAO rules and regulations and good skills of multi-stakeholders coordination and data collection and management
 Experience working on gender issues and women’s rights preferred.
 Experience of working with an International NGOs and UN focused on reporting will be an asset.
 Previous work experience with UN or other international organization and donor is an advantage;

Other Skills:
 Strong interpersonal and communication, reporting and presentation skills, analysis and interpretation of data, ability to work in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity

Language Skills:
 Excellent knowledge of English and local languages, both spoken and written.
