Duties & Responsibilities

The Provincial Coordination Officer (PCO) will be locally recruited nationals selected based on an open competitive process. Under the general supervision of the budget Holder/FAO Representative in Afghanistan and Senior Operations Officer and the direct supervision of the NPO (National Project Manager / Officer) with close collaboration with PAIL Bamyan the provincial coordination officer will carry out the following tasks under GCP-AFG-093-SWI, in Bamyan province

 Assist the NPO in managing project staff and consultants working at field sites and ensure that their reports and results are delivered on time;
 Assist the NPO to prepare HFLS quarterly project progress reports, as well as any other reports requested by the Executing Agency and FAO;
 Act as NPO in case of his/her absence;
 Overall, provide all necessary support to the NPO in field implementation of the project;
 Provide general administrative support to ensure the smooth running of the field offices;
 Monitor the use of non-expendable equipment (record keeping, drawing up regular inventories);
 Provide technical assistance and co-ordination for capacity building activities at field.
 Promote the project at provincial level and maintain good network with local stakeholders;
 Backstop day-to-day to support DAILS including consultation, advice, provision of project information;
 Closely coordinate project activities with relevant provincial stakeholders, in particular members of the PDC and DDC,
 In consultation with the NPO, partner with other agencies active in the province to coordinate and potentially integrate some of the activities,
 Provide regular monitoring reports within the formats provided,
 Identify and address any impediments to the planned project implementation,
 Conduct any other tasks requested by the NPO

Job Requirements

 University Degree in Rural Development, Agriculture, Social Sciences or related fields;
 A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the area of implementation of food and Livelihood security projects at small and medium scale in the field;
 Experience of working with local communities, preferably in the food and livelihoods security context;
 Extensive experience of planning and reporting on international funded projects;
 Good coordination skills and good organizational capacity;
 Working knowledge (level C) of English and of the most widely used local language ( i.e. Dari and Pashto)
 Good computer skills including MS Office Package.
