About Cordaid

Job Summary

To provide technical support and backstopping of Cortaid’s country office in Kabul and to partner (AHDS) for the ongoing CMAM project Funded by UNICEF in Kandahar and Uruzgan province.

Duties & Responsibilities

1.To Support the Cordaid Kabul Country Director in implementation of Community Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM) projects.
2.Through regular consultations and coaching at the higher levels to the management of partner organization, contribute towards the technical and organizational soundness of this project.
3.Though specific capacity building activities assist nutrition staff, CHWS and other senior staff of partner organization who are focal to this project on improving their competencies for project implementation.
4.Facilitate project implementers in their efforts to improve on the ability of their staff and systems to monitor progress adequately and produce progress reports in high quality.
5.Assist project implementers and Cordaid in providing feedback on achievement and constraints within the project implementation
6.Presenting summary of project progress to the Ministry of Public health, UNICEF and other relevant stakeholders.
7.Monitor and assess relevant facts, developments and trends that effect or potentially effect the implementation of these projects.
8.Pro-actively and on request, advise Cordaid on any matter that may contribute to the better managements of its responsibility towards UNICEF.
9.On the request of partners, assist in the programming and formulation of extension of projects if appropriate.
10.Assist in linking and learning and development of policies toward community based management of acute malnutrition.

Approaches
Technical assistance to Cordaid, AHDS and possibly to the other partners takes place along five tracks:

1.Nutrition implementation, including other operationalisation of community base management of acute malnutrition, supplementary program combination and technical advice for the next phase of nutrition if it is required.
2.Technical back stopping for CMAM project and strengthening coordination among stakeholders including donors for this project.
3.Follow up of project progress, providing technical feedbacks to stakeholders through a planned field visit.
4.initiate training as needed and follow up of training schedule according to the planned schedule.
5.General advisory role towards Cordaid nutrition care in fragile states.

Nutrition officer will keep the overview over the projects. He/she will visit the project once per/ month and will maintain e-mail/telephone contacts with the Cordaid liaison officer and the partner organisation throughout the year.

For the programme in kandhar and Uruzgan the following capacity building activities are planned:

1.Technical support to Cordaid and AHDS for revision of action plan, during 2nd the delay happened on start of project,
2.Technical support: advice on setting up CMAM activities, implementation of the CMAM and SFP, developing training programme for staff.
3.Technical support to OTP centre, data analysis and management, human resources management, stock management, patient flows,
4.Technical support to stabilisation centre within provincial hospital ( Tk and Mirwais hospital)
5.Management of supply ( RUTF and necessary equipment), provision of request and follow up with UNICEF
6.Technical support for drafting UNICEF/ MOPH reporting schedule
7.Technical support for drafting new UNICEF proposal for next phase ( in case needed)
8.Drafting TOR for final evaluation of UNICEF and Cordaid project.
9.Facilitate baseline survey if needed
10.Cost/ capital, estimation of expenses and feedback on nutrition care financing to move the project for more sustainable direction

Job Requirements

1.A degree in social sciences, public health, Nutrition and community development
2.Proven NGO experience
3.Managerial position held in program development and project management
4.Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
5.Excellent report writing and proposal development skills.
6.Ability to represent the organization
7.Proven experience of working with partners
8.Proven experience of working in complex and insecure situations.
