Job Summary

Kandahar Spen Boladak OFC Technician is responsible for new installation, preventative maintenance of our existing OFC network and troubleshooting

Duties & Responsibilities

ü Splicing, testing, and troubleshooting of AWCC OFC Network 24/7

ü Coordinate fiber activities with other AWCC departments from the field

ü Perform fiber tests with OTDR’s, light source and meters.

ü Terminate, splice, bonds/grounds and tests fiber optic equipment to division standards

ü Assist Construction/Engineering departments in accepting and turning up the fiber network.

ü Perform installation of fiber optic equipment and patch and panels.

ü Monitor, communicate and perform corrective actions to fix problems affecting any fiber or fiber related equipment.

ü Install demarcation enclosures and other telecom equipment.

ü Must be well versed in modern fiber splicing techniques.

ü Must have experience with the following equipment: fusion splicer, mechanical splicer, OTDR, power meters, traffic identifiers, digital multi-meters, cleavers, strippers, buffer tube splitters, cable ring tools, hand tools, toners, duct etc.

ü Ability to work under minimal supervision. And apply technical expertise to evaluate problems and implementing the best solutions.

ü Work a variety of schedules including normal duty and on-call duty. Schedule will include extended travel and overnight stays.

ü Maintaining project and safety documentation

ü Locating faults and mobilizing resources within minimal time to counter fault

ü Excellent communications skills.

ü Must be skilled in fiber optic terminations 

Job Requirements

Ø Diploma IT / Technical College Degree with minimum 4 years work experience in the field OFC network

Ø Must have minimum 4 years working experience in OFC

Ø Willing to travel to the remote part of the country.

Ø Familiarity with various test equipment; OFC power meters,

Ø Multi meter, OFC cable testers and multi-purpose hand-held equipment.

Ø Ability to read and understand network design, specifications, and drawings.

Ø Good communication skills and the ability to operate in a team
