Closely collaborating with the senior management team, the Organizational Development consultant will have overall responsibility to strengthen the organizational development of IWA, having key responsibilities which include, but are not limited to, interventions in the following areas:
Main duties and responsibilities:
Human Resource Management:
- Review the current HR policies, processes and procedures; define a prioritized HR development plan and contribute to the revision of IWA’s HR practices including notably the update of IWA’s internal rules and regulations.
- Develop IWA’s training policy and its annual training implementation plan
- Contribute to developing solutions to address conflict management issues
- Assess the risk of turnover among key personnel and propose solutions to minimize it.
Knowledge Management:
- Develop solutions to improve IWA’s organizational memory and knowledge sharing in particular between the Research department and the rest of the organization.
Transparency, integrity and accountability of IWA’s internal practices:
- Design or revise a number of organizational processes in a way that minimizes the risk of corruption and limits possible conflicts of interest (for example in the areas of Financial and Accounting processes and HR Management).
Other issues:
- It is also expected from the OD consultant to participate to the reinforcement of IWA’s identity and its governance structure; and to address a number of issues identified with IWA’s management at the beginning of the consultancy.
While overcoming these challenges, the Organizational Development Advisor will have to maintain IWA’s participative culture and develop pragmatic organizational solutions that efficiently support the achievement of IWA’s operational objectives.
Education:
A master degree in, Human Resources Management, Business Administration, international development, policy studies, political science or any relevant field;
Experience:
4 to 5 years experience in relevant field with NGOs or international agencies.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Excellent knowledge Policy and Human Resources Management
Excellent oral and written communication in English Excellent writing and computer skills;
Extensive knowledge of the Afghan civil society and Non-Governmental organizations.
Self starter, creative and initiative
Ability to develop and manage professional relations, with outstanding interpersonal and coordination skills;
Result-oriented and able to deliver within tight deadlines;
Committed and organized
Willing to work overtime, holidays and weekends as requested by IWA management.
