Physician FSN-11
The incumbent serves as a part time physician for the U.S. Embassy Kabul providing primary health care, emergency care, and health teaching. He/she is responsible for providing medical care to Americans with authorized access to the Health Unit and to locally engaged staff injured on the job at the largest Department of State Embassy Health Unit. He/she has the additional responsibility for planning and administering health screening for locally engaged staff and for reviewing medical claims submitted by locally engaged staff covered under the Embassy health care plan.
Education: Medical Doctor University degree fully licensed to practice medicine in Afghanistan is required.
Experience: Minimum of three (3) years as a practicing physician clinical experience as a licensed physician family practice, Internal Medicine or Emergency Medicine is required.
Language: Level IV (fluent) speaking/writing in English and Dari is required. Medical documentation and official reports must be prepared in English.
Knowledge: General practice knowledge required to deal with a wide variety of medical situations in the
Health unit. Understanding of Advanced Cardiac life support protocol is required.
Basic word processing, Internet, e-mail and spreadsheet computer skills required. Must be sensitive to needs and feelings of others and be approachable and personable to direct-hire and local hire staff. Must have customer service orientation.
