The incumbent serves as a working Mechanic Foreman and performs highly skilled full journeyman level work within the Mechanic and plumbing trades. He will be responsible for all Mechanical repairs of Embassy owned properties and equipment. The incumbent will supervise 9 plumber and 3 truck Drivers.
As a working foreman the duties involve supervising, assisting, directing and reviewing the work of 9 plumbers and 3 Truck Drivers. He will report to and take direction from the, Shop Supervisor. Facilities Maintenance Supervisor and Facilities Maintenance Officer.
Installation, maintenance and repair of mechanical powered equipment, pump, generators, fuel tanks and plumbing fixtures
Examines equipment or makes diagnostic test to determine nature and extent of work necessary.
Disassembles equipment and adjusts, repairs, or replaces defective parts or components to correct malfunctioning mechanical components.
Monitor the use of material and manpower to achieve maximum efficiency and to guard against fraud and mismanagement.
The plumbing foreman will be driving, and will require a driver’s license in order to drive U. S. Government vehicle. He may be required to work after normal working hours or on weekend shifts. Additionally, may be assigned other unrelated duties. Reassignment to other duties not specified in this work plan for a period no longer than 99 consecutive days
a. Education
High School Diploma is required.
b.Prior Work Experience
Minimum of two years as a journeyman as plumber is required. One year of supervisory experience is required.
d. Language Proficiency: List both English and host country language(s) by level and specialization.
Level 2 English ability is required. Level IV Dari ability is required.
Must have a good working knowledge of facilities maintenance. Must be able to supervise, provide technical guidance to the Facilities maintenance officer, and to the maintenance supervisory staff about any related problems. Knowledge of the composition, operation, and installation of a variety of Mechanical systems, equipment, and Plumbing. Knowledge of national and local codes as it applies to commercial buildings. Ability to plan, layout and complete the installation, modification and repair of various systems. Ability to interpret and apply building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings; skill in the use of a wide variety of testing equipment. Must be able to use all tools of the trade; must have local class 4 driver’s license.
