Duties & Responsibilities

Under the direction of the First Secretary and Deputy
Program Manager (Political, Economic, and Regional
Affairs), plans APCP Working Group meetings (in particular
logistics, travel and communications), undertakes follow-
up on APCP commitments, particularly with Afghan
government departments, assists in project development of
APCP projects, supports the monitoring and evaluation of
APCP projects, and undertakes other duties as required.

EDUCATION:
➢ University degree from a recognized university with a major in a discipline related to the job requirements (e.g. international development, education, human rights, political science) or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience
EXPERIENCE:

➢ Experience liaising with Government of Afghanistan ministries/agencies and development organizations such as multilateral organizations, bilateral donors, and/or non-governmental organizations

➢ Experience working in a professional, international setting

KNOWLEDGE:
➢ Knowledge of Canada’s priorities in Afghanistan
➢ Knowledge of Afghan government structures, governance issues/impacts and institutions, as well as the international community’s presence and activities in Afghanistan

ABILITIES:
➢ Ability to communicate well orally and in writing
➢ Ability to conduct independent research
➢ Ability to prepare formal written correspondence and summary reports
➢ Ability to build and maintain professional relations with a wide range of stakeholders including Afghan government officials, non-governmental organizations, and international organizations
➢ Ability to translate documents and articles and to interpret as needed
➢ Ability to work independently and to take initiative and be proactive
➢ Ability to co-ordinate conflicting priorities
➢ Ability to use PCs (e.g. windows XP, Office Suites, Outlook, spreadsheets)

LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY: English and Dari.
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience managing/monitoring projects

Knowledge of international context of Afghanistan-Pakistan relations and regional dynamics
Work experience with a bilateral or multilateral donor
