The Power Plant Supervisor, under the supervision of the Power Generation Manager, will oversee power generation daily operations and provide safe reliable power to our customers. Manage and direct functions directly related to designated power plant.
1. Supervise power plant operators and generator mechanics in the execution of primary and secondary maintenance and repairs of power generation equipment and systems hence providing uninterrupted power to all facilities on the site.
2. Monitors diesel engine/generators and associated switch gear parameters.
3. Responsible for submitting work orders and requests for generator repairs & preventive maintenance.
4. Execute administration or administrative oversight of reporting IAW company policy and PWS for proper and efficient operation of the power plants and distribution network
5. Work as part of electrical teams (HV) to perform routine installation, maintenance and repairs on electric power systems, switchgear, distribution lines or transformers.
Work on power cables, transformers, insulators, and control equipment such as switches, circuit breakers, and panels. This includes collecting transformer oil samples that are tested for contamination as well as cleaning up contaminated sites;
Install and connect transformers on hangers and platforms, making hot taps and splices;
Install underground cable, conduit, and ductwork. Install transformers; string lights and power wires on cross arms and through ducts and manholes; make electrical connections; and splice cables;
Use and maintain various hand and power tools of the trade
6. Coordinates all scheduled service interruptions and reports all unscheduled power interruptions.
7. Provide leadership, teamwork, building skills and supervision for power plant technicians.
8. Makes adjustments to diesel engine/generators to ensure power plant operating standard operating procedures are followed.
9. Ensures efficient and economical operation of the power plant
10. Maintains historical records for all the generators at the power plant and all related equipment. Preparing and compiling Reports to comply with company policy.
11. Responsible for testing and maintaining all fuel records at the power plant.
12. Responsible and ensures all the safety standards are followed, reports all unsafe working conditions. Ensures all permits are obtained for work requiring, installation, removal, scheduled power outages, lock-out/tag-out.
13. Maintains cleanliness of power plant facilities including generators, power plant and all equipment related to the power plant.
14. Provide training to power plant and generator mechanics associated with power generation equipment.
15. Performs other duties as required.
Education: Diploma/Bachelor in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or any related technical field.
Experience: 5 years of experience in Power generation/Power Plant field preferably in diesel power generation with 2 years supervisory experience.
Other Qualifications:
Hold Valid Driving License with at least 6 months of remaining validity.
Incumbents should be able to lift, push, and pull a minimum of 50lbs.
Proficient in using Microsoft Office software (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
Excellent communicator in Dari, Pashto and English including professional email writing.
Ability to work with diverse workforce.
Work under pressure and manage things.
Demonstrate good problem solving skills.
Ability to supervise a group of workforce.
