Job Summary

Assess the prevalence of global and severe acute malnutrition among children from 6 to 59 months old in Afghanistan

Duties & Responsibilities

Mission 1: Organise and coordinate SMART surveys (8) or Rapid Nutrition Assessment (Light-SMART 6) in partnership with nutrition/health activity implementers in Afghanistan
 Coordinate and organisation surveys/assessments calendar together with health & nutrition partners and Monitoring & Evaluation Programme coordinator
 Support partners in recruitment/selection of their team members for the surveys/assessment to ensure appropriate profile.
 Provide training for the team members in coordination with the health and nutrition partners on SMART and RNA (Light-SMART) methodologies (including pre- and post-test, standardization and pre-survey).
 Produce capitalisation report including lessons learnt and recommendations for future capacity development in country based in project experience.
 Organise restitution meeting with partners to present results of the Surveys, recommendations and level of achievement of capacity building objectives
Mission 2: Preparation of the survey methodology and organisation of the SMART nutritional survey and/or Light-SMART rapid nutrition assessments.
 Ensure that adequate information regarding geography, population and general situation are collected.
 Ensure that survey methodology is in line with the SMART methodology
 Ensure that questionnaires are elaborated/updated, agreed on and translated to local language.
 Ensure that timeframe, planning, training plan, and necessary materials are adequate and available.
 Train partners staffs (including pre and post-tests, standardization test and pre-survey)

Mission 2: Collect field data for correction and analysis (using ENA-SMART software)
 To check the quality of the data entered in the software and clean the data base
 To run appropriate analysis on the collected nutrition data.
 Prepare data and formulate conclusions on nutrition situation to be included in the preliminary and final report

Mission 3: Analyze and interpret data from all sectors of survey and other sources
 Check the data quality from
 Run appropriate analysis on Nutriiton, MHCP, FSL and WaSH data, where possible identify relationships with nutrition data in collaboration with Nutrition, MHCP, FSL and WaSH Sectors.
 To collect secondary information about Nutrition, MHCP, FSL, WASH, (internal from other ACF departments / external from relevant partners) where relevant for the analysis.
 Interpret findings to formulate conclusions to be included in final report

Mission 4 : Write the nutrition survey’s preliminary and final reports and present to stakeholders
 To write a preliminary report with summary of methodology, survey results and recommendations within 2 weeks of data collection.
 To write a final report within a month (including methodology, results, analysis of results, conclusion and recommendations in terms of program implementation),
 To prepare a presentation of survey results and share them with partners and Assessment and Information Management Working group (AIMWG) prior dissemination

Job Requirements

Diploma / Level of studies: Higher Education or equivalent diploma linked to health/nutrition - strong interest in nutrition – experience in project management
Required skills: Type of professional experience requested: 2 years in humanitarian sector, management of nutrition projects, and management of nutrition and health assessments (incl nutrition and health assessments and surveys - ex: SMART).

Language + level: English compulsory
Strong communication skills, leadership, team player, patient and diplomatic
Autonomy, good organization skills, multi-tasking, priority management and planning
Able to work in complicated security environment
