About Hamida Barmaki Organization for the Rule of Law

Hamida Barmaki Organization for the Rule of Law was founded in 2013. HBORL is a non-governmental and non-profit organization established under the provisions of Afghan laws. Our Organization’s activities are concentrated on three approaches: Capacity building (State, civil societies, and universities), research and publication, and consultancy services/legislative reform. We strive to adhere to international best practices in law; thus we are engaged in building institutional capacities of public and private sectors, civil societies, and communities in the areas of rule of law and access to justice, consultancy for public administration, women empowerment, social peace and economic development in Afghanistan. Generally, our areas of operation are inclusive of providing professional training and mentorship to build the capacity of the professional staff of Afghan justice institutions and public administration, as well as, related non-state organizations. Providing training of trainers programs as a mean for sustainable development of educational and academic capacities; Cooperation with national and international research and teaching institutions; Translation of books and other materials especially in the field of law; Building legal awareness of the public in the areas of the rule of law and human rights.

Job Summary

Project Background: Bright Future Program is a five years’ project, funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands. This project is being implemented with the close partnership of Cordaid Afghanistan, Bayat Foundation, Crosswise Works, and Hamida Barmaki Organization for the Rule of Law (HBORL).

The program consortium partners are responsible for implementing the specified components related to the field, these major five components consist of: Enabling young urban Afghan entrepreneurs to set up and successfully grow their business; Creating job opportunity for Young urban Afghans; Accelerating Afghan SMEs businesses to generate more job, Improving the business climate for young Afghan entrepreneurs via an ecosystem that serves startups and small businesses, and facilitating policies, law and regulations related to the ease of doing business and labor market are known, respected and implemented.

As a member of the program consortium, The Hamida Barmaki Organization for the Rule of Law (HBORL) which is responsible for the pathway 5 component looking for a project assistant that can support the project manager in the planning, coordination, and implementation of project activities

The project assistant will be responsible for a variety of tasks under the bright future program and will directly report to the HBORL’s Project Manager. The tasks will include; project management, organizing and coordinating tasks, and reporting activities.

Duties & Responsibilities

 1.    The project assistant will Work closely with HBORL’s project manager and the Bright Future consortium managers to assist in the implementation of Program activities 

2.     Project Assistant will provide a high level of coordination and organizational support to the project manager

3.     Communication with project partners and stakeholders for project activities, to optimize access to ensure timely organization and facilitating of activities relating to project implementation

4.     Assist in Coordination and monitoring of project activities and follow up with relevant government bodies to ensure that activities initiate on time and efficiently

5.     Assist in arranging the activity and implementation plan as per the project activity plan

6.     Assist in preparing the report of project activities and any other task given by the project manager

7.     Attending the program management committee monthly meeting on behalf of HBORL

8.     Makes phone calls to beneficiaries or drafts invitation letter to the government stakeholders to attend the training and follow up on the status

9.     Conduct other activities deemed as necessary within the program framework

10.  Supports the Project Manager in overlooking the project activities, by visiting training venues, network events and receiving feedback, etc.

11.  Prepares supporting documents for trainer contract, and to track payment for trainers and keep update the trainers about the upcoming activities

12.  Assist in maintaining a proper filing system and documenting all activity report related to the project 

13.  Any other tasks assigned by your first-line manager or CEO of Hamida Barmaki Organization for the Rule of Law.

Job Requirements

Candidate Holding Master’s degree in business administration is highly preferred or at least a bachelor’s degree in relevant field.

Have enough practical experience in project management within NGOs and a strong track record of working in inspiring teams to achieve outstanding results 

Experiences attending external meetings e.g. cluster meetings, meetings with donors

Have an excellent communication skill particularly in English, Dari, Pashto

Have an excellent command of English, presentations, and reporting.
