The Project Manager will be responsible for the overall planning, direction, coordination, execution, management and implementation of projects with private and government customers with the overall target of ensuring consistency between organization and clients strategies, commitments and goals.
Using his/her management skills, the candidate must be able to quickly identify key deficiencies and bottlenecks, resource requirements and training needs, define project deliverables, reporting structures and ensure quality of projects and ultimately provide customer satisfaction.
The Project Manager will ensure that effective communications and excellent relationships between counterparts and project team members are maintained at all time.
The Project Manager will provide team leadership, assign and check work of team members and provide effective input on hiring and evaluation of staff.
The Project Manager will work with counterparts to develop project scope of work documents and project plans that will include an analysis of benefit, cost, work schedule and any risks involved.
The Project Manager will assign, schedule, train, review, and monitor project work to ensure that progress is within expected guidelines and is completed on time and within budget. He/she will work with counterparts to identify the roles of project team members, project reporting structures and frequency of interaction and any training requirements that may be needed for a team member or counterpart staff to complete project effectively.
He/she will define the responsibilities of parties involved in the project including counterparts’ IT management and project teams, clients and vendors.
He/she will identify, track, monitor and communicate project-related issues, scope changes, variances and contingencies that may arise during the implementation of the project and facilitate amicable solutions to disputes arising during interactions with counterparts
He/she will lead the development of IT system review schedules, audits and acceptance tests for each phase of the project.
He/she will constantly report on progress of the project to all stakeholders at various intervals.
Finally, the Project Manager will facilitate the definition of project scope, goals and objectives, define project tasks and develop full scale project plans, assemble and coordinate project staff, manage project budget and resource allocations, plan and schedule project timelines and implement and manage project changes and interventions to achieve project outputs and ultimately conduct evaluation and assessment of results.
At least 4 years of previous experience in management preferably project management with World Bank/USAID financed projects or similar development agencies in a senior position.
Excellent written and oral communication in both English and Dari, languages. Knowledge of Pashtu language is highly preferred.
Knowledge of both theoretical and practical aspects of project management with sufficient information on project management techniques and tools is highly desirable
Proven experience in team management and strategic planning
Proven negotiation skills
Proven experience in risk management and change management with proficiency in project management software is highly desirable.
The ideal candidate must possess critical thinking problem solving and conflict management skills with excellent planning organizing and decision-making capabilities,
The ideal candidate must have influencing and leading qualities with strong negotiation power and delegate assignments among his/her team members,
