Duties & Responsibilities

The PED Liaison officer will serve as a liaison and mentor for the PED office in Uruzgan, supporting the PED with monitoring, coordinating and communicating within the province as well as the Kabul office of SAVE the Children. The formal and in-formal school system in Uruzgan needs some basic structures put in place, and the PED needs supporting in systemizing the programs

Job Requirements

Key Accountabilities
The project will be implemented through Save The Children International in Uruzgan province will conduct Community Based Education (CBE) classes, Early Childhood (ECD) classes, Student Groups, Mother’s Literacy classes, SHN, and building projects in various location in different districts of Tarin Kowt and nearer villages, and improve learning environments for children in targeted primary schools and facilitate the transition of children from learning centres into formal schools. Activities to promote links between formal schools, learning centers and communities will also be carried out.
Save the Children will provide technical support in planning, implementing, and monitoring this work, particularly for inputs into the formal schools and promoting better community interaction in schools. The MoE(PED) will be actively encouraged to participate in all aspects of the CoU project.
The project started in December 2011 and will conclude in December 2015.

Roles and Responsibilities:
1. Coordinate and communicate the CoU project activities between Save the Children, Provincial Education directorate ( PED), SC partner, other education stakeholders and maintaining the liaison and the linkage.
2. Prepare and implement a coordination/Liaison plan considering the objectives and actual implementation plan of the project.
3. Convene meeting of Save the Children (SC), SC partner (SVF, AHDS) and other education stakeholders with PED and sharing information and experiences among them.
4. Provide technical assistance to PED staff in the project activities and other day to day activities
5. Work with PED staff in recognizing their strengths and the role they can play to contribute to the project implementation
6. Ensure PED staff is involved in all the events and monitoring process of the project.
7. Adapt SC and its partner project implementation practices according to the MoE CBE and ECD policies and protocols.
8. Assess the PED staff capacity gaps and building capacity of the PED staff in target areas of the project and other concepts they need to get develop in.
9. Field visits and participating in the events of the project organized by SC or its partner.
10. Perform any other activity provided by the PED director / SC provincial senior Manager.
