Under supervision of the Operation Manager, the incumbent provide effective communication support to zonal offices.
•To maintain voice/data radio network between Zonal-offices and ACO and elsewhere as required on HF/VHF ensuring prompt transmission in full respect of set priorities and network procedures.
•Establish Radio contact with staff, consultants and vehicles travelling to the field, using regular HF radios
•Assist in setting up an effective operations of Data on HF clover protocol and in smooth flow of mails with Zonal Offices and ACO. Ensure strict observation of network procedures and instructions by all radio users within the Zonal Offices.
•Assists in keeping up-to-date inventory of all radio equipment, accessories and supplies and report to the concerned section on a regular basis. Report promptly to supervisor of any problem affecting communication or equipment malfunction.
•Monitors emergency calls and communicates with appropriate UNICEF and/or inter-agency communication or security focal points.
•Maintain a 24-hour work schedule, work over the weekends and public holidays ensuring that traffic received during these periods are passed on to concerned officials whenever necessary.
•Inform the supervisor and/or other senior staff of Zonal Office concerned of applicable urgent messages coming in over weekend and public holidays that require immediate attention.
ï¶ Completion of Higher Secondary School Certificate is the minimum requirement. Diploma in radio operation or its equivalent technology.
ï¶ 1-2 years experience as Radio Operator preferably in a large communication network. Ability to operate HF/VHF/voice radios, radio telex system operating on various programmes such as digital data transmission.
ï¶Fluency in English and local language of the duty station required.
