Job Summary

Department Goal: Building responsible citizenship in Afghanistan, focusing specifically on Afghan

Major Goal of the Position: Promotes/sells/secures sales from existing and prospective customers through a 

 

relationship based approach. Show products to existing/potential customers and 

 

assist them in selecting those best suited to their needs. Collects sales money. Works 

 

in Inflow system to produce all needed documentation and reports for office

Duties & Responsibilities

Key Result Area (KRA) 1: Promotion and Sales of Rahmat Publication Products. The Rahmat Senior Sales Officer will: 

 

a) Establish, develop and maintain business relationships with current customers and prospective customers to 

generate business for Rahmat Publications. 

 

b) Advocate, explain and support Rahmat Publications products, activities and values to the customers. 

 

c) Participate in trade shows, conventions and business trips for a few days, also in other provinces and 

countries. 

 

d) Develop and execute a special plan for promotion of reading among Pashtuns and their areas and to 

increase sales of Pashto books. 

 

e) Ensure proposals/quotations/orders are provided in a timely manner for current and prospective customers. 

f) Meet target numbers for selling Rahmat Publications products. 

g) Ensure a good process is in place for timely resolution of customer problems and complaints. 

 

h) Feedback about market demand, opportunities for new products, compare own products with competing 

products and learn from that, cooperate with Publication Department in developing existing and new 

products, like pre-print-market-trials, etc., with agreement of management 

 

i) Collect feedback from customers like booksellers, schools, NGOs, etc., and pass on such information in an 

organized way to the Publication Department and Management to help improve Rahmat Publications 

products. 

 

j) Plan and organize separate sales strategies for different provinces as agreed by the Manager. 

 

k) Manage the assistant, train him and coordinate the sales-activities well with him. 

 

Key Result Area (KRA) 2: Distribution and inventory control. The Rahmat Senior Sales Officer will: 

 

a) Complete distribution of sales orders specific to each customer, using clear documentation and communication, 

and ensure that all information is entered into the software system (currently Inflow) in a timely manner. 

 

b) Report on the need for changes in the price list during the year to Management.  

 

c) Support a full inventory count of all Rahmat Publications products in OPM warehouse, two times a year. 

 

d) Monitor the sales of consignment customers through in-person visits and inventorying the consignment 

products. 

 

e) Prepare monthly and annual reports of distribution, sales-invoices-sum and actually received money sums to 

Management, compare them with the monthly targets and explain differences. 

 

f) Follow all policies and required processes that apply to Sales Department and generally Rahmat Project. 

 

g) Support the Management and the Systems Advisor in developing appropriate policies, processes and goals for 

control. 

Key Result Area (KRA) 3: Receiving payments from customers. The Rahmat Senior Sales Officer will: 

a) Ensure payments from customer on due invoices are received within the agreed upon time.

b) Record every payment immediately in the Inflow System and produce the needed documents within one 

working days of receiving the payment. 

c) Make sure that all received payments are transferred to the Op-Mercy bank-account in an accurate manner with 

all documentation at least every 14 days. 

d) Support the Rahmat Manager to develop a strategy and process how to collect overdue money from sales, in 

cooperation with Management and the Systems Advisor.  

e) Execute the plan to collect overdue money from Sales. 

f) Provide invoices to other Op-Mercy projects to both Project Manager and Finance Manager within a day of 

processing the order and ensure payment is done within the same month. 

g) Support the Management and the Systems Advisor in developing appropriate policies, processes and goals for 

receiving payments. 

Key Result Area (KRA) 4: General Rahmat Publications Office. The Senior Sales Officer will: 

 

a) Develop a strong relationship with all coworkers and beneficiaries, seeking to be an example in teamwork, sel

sacrifice, positive outlook and integrity. 

 

b) Inform the Management about travel plans outside Kabul and/or unusual locations 4 weeks before, to 

coordinate changes to the annual-travel-plan and get needed flight tickets at least 2 weeks in advance. 

 

c) Maintain an attitude of learning that continuously seeks to grow in professional skills and language learning an

cultural understanding of the target group and co-workers. 

 

d) Perform any other duties as directed by the Rahmat Project Manager 

e) Do advertisement, develop new and maintain existing relationships to other publishers. 

Profile of Rahmat Senior Sales Officer: 

Non-negotiable: 

Very good inter-personal skills, ability to express his thoughts clearly 

 

Friendly, kind and able to communicate with people of all cultures with respect 

 

Have at least five years of experience in sales and marketing in the private sector, with private shops 

 

Have achieved a minimum academic level of diploma in a relevant field 

At least 2 years experience in managing other people 

 

Good speaking, reading, writing and typing ability in Dari 

 

Good speaking, reading, writing and typing ability in Pashto 

Some speaking, reading, writing and typing ability in English 

 

Good computer and data entry skills 

 

Able to travel 3-5 days weekly to locations inside Kabul city 

 

Able to travel to other provinces for a few days to generate new business. 

Able to present products in a professional way 

 

Decent, respectable appearance 

 

Honest and hard-working, even without direct supervision 

 

Eagerness to learn and improve 

 

Negotiable: 

 

Have a degree of a Business institution
