Job Summary

The primary purpose of the position is to serve as a resource person to enhance the understanding and proficiency of key stakeholders through building their capacity through capacity building and trainings. The Regional Senior Officer for Schools will facilitate instructional courses for education team and mentor teachers, provides coaching and models the instructional practices to teachers in their classrooms.
S/he will get advice and in coordinate with National Advisor for Schools Improvement and Teacher Training in order to effective implementation of WSI program and Training. The Regional Senior Officer, Education for Schools will provide technical support to the AKF education team to identify the school needs and strategies, provide continuing feedback to improve support to schools and enhance learning achievements. The Regional Officer, Education for School will directly report to the RME-IQ and work in accordance with MoE policy and AKF directives.

Duties & Responsibilities

Technical Advice and support: Review, revise and facilitate implementation process of WSIP/Teacher Training and school development plans in coordination with ASTEs and DTES, and ensure that WSIP in schools and Teachers Training is on the right direction;
Programme Planning and delivery: prepare and execute plans and deliver the trainings for education field team as well as school community and supervise the whole process of school development/WSIP/Training;
Programme effectiveness: work with the team to ensure the programme quality and effectiveness of the WSIP, school development plan interventions and the relevance in particular reference to mentoring mechanism developed in schools. Participate in cluster-based learning circle and explore learning opportunities for practitioners;
Staff Management and Development: Assist RME-IQ in identifying needs and strategies to develop and strengthen the capacity of the regional education team in the areas of school development and improvement. Provide ongoing mentoring/support to the Area Senior Teacher Educators, Education (ASTEEs) and District Teacher Educators, Education (DTEEs) in the regions;
Resource Management: facilitate in selection of teaching and learning supplies (e.g., books, stationery and other resources) that are needed and appropriate for schools we work. Introduce innovative ideas to the clients to develop resources to enrich and supplement the textbooks and ensure relevance of the materials;
Reporting and updates: Prepares reports on filed visits, trainings conducted, monthly basis on WSI programme impact and effectiveness and provides regular feedback to technical challenges faced by schools and team;
Representation: responsible to represent AKF in education forums and meetings relevant to school development and improvement.

Occasional Significant duties:
Collaborate with AKF staff across sectors, AKES and MoE department at provincial level, in providing technical support to that is linked with education and school development.
Support technically in organizing of events, campaign, conferences on education in coordination with other teams.
Any task delegated by the immediate supervisor or senior management in the region.

Administration:
Management over all activities related to whole school improvement in the region, provision of materials, stationery and other teaching and learning materials and monitoring the activities

Technical:
Responsible for overall result and outcome of the activities executed in the schools in relation with whole school improvement
Geographical Scope:
Programme schools, CBE classes and CBPs centers in the region.

Logistical
Ensure the accessibility and appropriateness of the materials for schools and workshops in coordination with AOE

Job Requirements

Bachelor Degree in Education preferably post-graduation degree in Education;
At least 3-5 years of teaching experience in primary or secondary education;
3-5 Years’ experience in teachers’ education, Teachers training, TOT;
High level of interpersonal skills;
Good communication skills in Dari and English with good computing skills;
Strong motivation to improve education and ready to work in hard and remote areas of Badakhshan;
