The reporter will be responsible for researching and writing informational news articles and stories about real events from a fair and unbiased perspective. analyze and collect information through various sources to prepare TV reports also collect, verify, and analyze newsworthy information thoroughly.
• Gather information and facts; develops stories; writes articles.
• Investigate, observes, and conducts interviews to gather information for articles.
• Report on current events at the local, state, and/or national and international levels.
• Write article and headlines; prepares copy for publication.
• Cover special reports that are assigned by the line manager.
• Gather and verify information regarding story through interviews, observation, and research
• Organize material, determines slant or emphasis, and writes story according to prescribed editorial style and format standards
• Appear on television program when conducting taped or filmed interviews or narration
• Give live reports from site of event or mobile broadcast unit
• Transmit information to news writer for story writing
• Specialize in one type of reporting, such as sports, fires, accidents, political affairs, court trials, or police activities
• May be assigned to outlying areas or foreign countries and be designated correspondent or foreign correspondent
• monitor local, national, and international news sources multiple times daily.
• verifiy information with sources and ensures the accuracy of the news report.
• write and edits news scripts.
• Produce shows from the field, when necessary, based on the nature of the story.
• Deciding which stories are of most interest to our news consumers.
• Determine the order in which stories will be told in broadcasts or posted to the web.
• Write informative and detailed web platform stories, including links and additional information viewers will find useful.
• May take photographs or video footage of objects or places of significance.
• Any other task assigned by line manager.
• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or any related field is required.
• 2-3 years of reporting experience.
• Excellent writing and editing skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent research skills.
• Ability to conduct interviews and gather information
• Fluency in Pashto and Dari.
• Excellent typing skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar software.
• Proficient with desktop publishing software.
