This is a full time position based in Kabul, Afghanistan. The Reporting & Communication Officer will be responsible, under the direct supervision of the Vice President for activities related to Media and Communication in general and with the delivery of final products in an efficient and accurate way.
As an expert member of the Program Office, the Reporting & Communication Officer will be responsible for the following:
Reporting:
Draft regular activity reports, weekly reports, monthly and annual reports as well as end of project reports.
Develop and coordinate regular highlights for internal and external distribution
Edits reports before submitting them to the management
Assists the departments in the production of activity reports
Prepares and updates information material (Fact Sheets, brochures, success stories, data tables).
Coordinate with all AJO departments to facilitate timely and accurate information flow and reporting.
Website:
Develop content and edit content of the AJO website
Assist in the implementation and monitoring of procedures for ongoing website revision and upkeep
Manage, analyze and report on website traffic to the management as required.
Social media
Maintain and enhance AJO’s presence on social media, such as Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube;
Promote AJO activities and events on social media tools
Communicate activities and events of AJO programs and effectiveness to all relevant audiences
Review new social media communities and determine viability and effectiveness of our participation
Press Relations
Update press lists
Support media outreach
Make direct contact with journalists
Other
Assists the President and Vice President on handling relevant tasks (correspondence and communications)
Develop print materials, such as brochures, fact sheets, press releases for conferences, and outreach
Contribute to all reporting, media & communication activities.
Support in the planning and delivery of events that promote AJO’s programs
Any other duty that may assign by the Supervisor
Minimum three years of professional experience in report writing, media and communications, or related field
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of major issues and trends occurring in the media and communication field
knowledge of the Afghan legal systems, laws, and procedure, as well as of Sharia principles will be an advantage
Discretion and sound judgment in handling sensitive issues
Ability to cooperate with others to achieve results and to establish and maintain effective working relations with the team
Computer and research skills, including the internet (online) research
Education:
University degree in Journalism or Mass Communication. Background in Business Administration, Public Administration or legal field will be an asset.
Language Skills:
Excellent command of written and spoken English, Pashto and Dari
Other Competencies:
Knowledge of communications and media production, and computing, clerical and leadership skills.
Ability to establish and maintain good inter-personal relationships
Ability to work under pressure, demonstrate responsible behavior and discretion, take initiative, give attention to details, and be an independent problem solver.
Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and organize work flow to effectively meet deadlines, and follow up on pending issues.
Ability to work well independently and within a team.
Willingness and ability to work outside working hours and /or to travel to provinces
