DABS is willing to recruit an individual national as translator to work with Supervisory Team constituted to supervise the Rehabilitation on Unit 1, Overhauling of Unit 3 and Supply of Spare Parts for Naghlu Hydropower Plant and to help Working Group for World Bank Funded Projects established by DABS. The supervisory team consists of (i). Team Leader cum Mechanical Engineer, (ii). Electrical Engineer, and (iii). Site Supervisor. The translator has work as a link between Contractor’s engineers & technicians, members of supervisory team, Project Manager NHRP and DABS Management.
1. Provide oral interpretation from Russian to English, Pasto, Dari, and vice versa as required.
2. Translate documents from Russian to English, Pasto, Dari, and vice versa as required.
3. Assist in the development and compilation of reports and other information documents as required.
4. Provide briefing notes to the Supervisory Team and Project Manager on discussions held in meetings.
5. Attend meetings with the Supervisory Team as required and prepare the draft minutes of the meeting.
6. Offer advice and guidance to Project Advisers in relation to effective language use and cultural relevant advice, as required.
7. Assist in the delivery of Staff training sessions (translation and compilation of materials, interpretation during the session, assistance with management and logistics of the session).
8. Perform other duties as will be required by the Head World bank Funded Projects, as needed.
University undergraduate degree or diploma in Engineering, Russian and/or English or a related field and minimum five years extensive experience in written and oral translation Russian, English, Pasto and Dari work in Afghanistan environment. Mechanical/ Electrical/ Civil Engineering graduate shall be given preference
1. Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills in Russian, English, Pasto and Dari
2. Good basic computer skills in MS Excel, Word, AutoCAD and willingness to learn PowerPoint
3. Ability to work under pressure in an organized and systematic way
4. Ability to work unsupervised and independently.
5. Willingness to cooperate with Project Advisers to facilitate their outputs.
6. Willingness to work flexible hours in order to meet project deadlines.
7. Able to maintain attention for extended periods of time and to maintain high quality outputs.
8. Willingness to learn new skills.
9. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.
10. Previous experience as a translator/ interpreter highly desirable
