Save the Children, Multi Location
Under overall supervision of the Balkh Provincial Senior Manager and under direct supervision of the Project Assistants, Violence Free School SC Facilitator will be responsible for day to day project activities regarding child protection. He/she will also contribute to communicate child protection issues, arrange meetings with VFS Project Officer, department of education and department of DOLSA. Be able to advocate children rights and the right of protection and generally contributes to fulfil the objective of Save the Children Afghanistan programme.
1. To facilitate trainings and meetings in target schools.
2. To work and support Students Councils in target schools (schools under project).
3. Arrange Parents meeting for the project implementation.
4. Assist Student Councils in identifying problems and find solutions.
5. Support Parents Teachers and Student Association (PTSA) and Student Councils formation and operation.
6. Negotiate with School teachers and authorities to identify technical needs.
7. Collect information regarding teacher training needs for planning.
8. Provide monthly community (parents) mobilization plan and their reports.
9. Assist Supervisors to conduct training courses at targeted schools.
10. Develop positive relationships with School staff and students.
11. Conduct joint training need assessment survey (if needed)
12. Data collection and joint follow up project monitoring system in close coordination with project assistants.
13. Ensure that you work to the best of your ability and demonstrate high levels of commitment to SC Afghanistan in order to ensure the objectives of your role and the country programme are met.
14. Ensure the effective and efficient use of all Save the Children resources in order to keep costs low and ensure safety in the workplace
15. Comply with the requirements of Save the Children’s Child Safeguarding Policy to ensure maximum protection for children
16. Lead, manage and motivate a team, ensuring that they have clear objectives and receive meaningful feedback on their performance.
Person Specification
1. High school degree or equivalent education.
2. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
3. Excellent communication skills in Dari language.
4. Good in conducting timely meeting.
5. Knowledge of working with communities, specifically in engaging communities to identify issues and working with them to implement plan.
6. Minimum 1 years experience in similar position.
7. Ability to travel to districts and targeted Schools.
8. Knowledge of child rights is an advantage.
9. Should be able to work independently and be a strong team member, be patient, adaptable, flexible, and able to improvise and work in stressful atmosphere and respects Afghan culture.
10. Committed to the aims and principles of Save the Children, including adherence to the child protection policy.
