About UNOPS

Job Summary

The functional objective of UNOPS/AGOC is to deliver its projects in an efficient and effective manner, so as to achieve the outcomes sought by the project and assist in the development goals of the Government of Afghanistan. Capacity building must always be considered and encouraged. The stated goal is to provide implementation services to the Government of Afghanistan, the donor community and partner agencies in the reconstruction and development of Afghanistan.

Duties & Responsibilities

A UNOPS Security Watchman is accountable or responsible to the Chief Security Officer through his chain of command (i.e. Team Leader and Watchman Supervisor) for the performance of the official duties. Security Watchman will carry out various security task assigned to by the Shift Leader or Watchman Supervisor as follows:

- Sentry duties at UNOPS Compound entry and exit points includes the following:

• Conduct 100% ID card check for UNOPS personal and visitors.
• Search of all vehicles entering to UN compounds.
• Search of visitors and packages entering to UN compounds.
• Check the removal/outgoing items and ensure that paper release and documentation is completed.
• Maintain log/occurrence book and ensure that paper entries are made.
• Conduct traffic control at the gates and exit points when necessary.
• Report any security related information, incident and irregularities to the CSO through his shift leader.
• Assist other staff members when required.

- Compound and Perimeter Patrol.

• Conduct compound and perimeter patrol on regular basis.
• Check and ensure that the perimeter fence/walls are intact.
• Report any suspicious persons, vehicles or objects.
• Check all UNOPS vehicles parked inside the compound at car park. Alternate parking should be arranged for other agency and VIP vehicles without jeopardizing the free movement of UNOPS vehicles.
• Building Patrol after hours.
• Conduct building patrol after hours and physically check all office doors and ensure that they are securely locked.
• Report any irregularities and ensure follow up security action is taken.
• Check and ensure that firefighting equipment’s are in place.
• Ensures to rotate the posts every hours and as advised by supervisor
• Ensures to cover additional shifts when required
• Perform any other duty assigned or detailed to him by person in charge

3. Monitoring and Progress Controls
The overall performance will put effect on AGOC Security, where Security Watchman is overall responsible for safety and security of UNOPS staff and assets during his working period.

4. Final Product
• Safety of Staff
• Security of premises
• Schedule of each Security Watchman as per ICA policy

Job Requirements

a. Education

• High School graduation is desirable

b. Work Experience

• At least 1-2 year experience in relevant field.

c. Key Competencies

• Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
• Computer literate (MS Office, Basic Networking and good comment on Internet).
• To be able communicate and have some understanding of conversational grasp of the English language is required. (Oral and written) and good command on Local Languages Dari/Pashto.
• Capable to work in a multi-national/ cultural environment.
