Mine Action Coordination Center of Afghanistan, Multi Location
The Senior Database Programmer/Administrator under the direction of the Senior Information Management Officer is responsible to the Chief Information Officer for all assigned tasks as follows:
• Maintain a high standard for the information in the Mine Action Information System.
• Plan, design, develop and program all modules for IMSMA database, add-on databases tables, forms, queries and reports.
• Setup technical specification documents for new proposed modules to be linked to IMSMA.
• Programming the required tools and statistics reports as directed by the Senior Information Officer.
• Develop and maintain the user guides and the technical programmer references for all additional modules of the IMSMA.
• Assist the IMSMA Officer in the customization of IMSMA as per user requirements and update all customization documentation accordingly.
• Ensure routine monthly, weekly and daily back-ups of the IMSMA Server are performed and store monthly back-ups to for future reference purposes.
• Ensure back-ups include all components of IMSMA database, include all scanned imanges.
• Check the accuracy of field reports and data integrity in the Mine Action Information System including: weekly survey progress reports; monthly clearance completion reports; monthly progress survey reports; survey detailed reports and maps; and monthly mine awareness/education reports.
• Produce standard data and data quality reports from the Mine Action Information System as requested by the Chief Information Officer, Senior Information Officer and/or IMSMA Officer.
• Screen information received for data input, i.e. accuracy and completeness.
• Liaise with all AMACs and implementing partners on data errors, i.e. accuracy and completeness.
• On a periodic basis visit all AMAC offices to ensure a high level of functionality and quality of MIS work.
• Stay abressed of new developments within the programming field, including the latest development on IMSMA NG.
• Prepare all weekly and monthly reports on programming activities.
• Understudy the IMSMA Officer and Senior Information Officer in his/her responsibilities.
• Complete additional tasks assigned by the IMSMA Officer and Senior Information Officer.
• Secondary Diploma required (Bachelors Degree in the field of Information Technology, Information Management of Computer Science is an asset)
• At least 7 years of working experience in the filed if of Information Technology, Information Management or Computer Science.
• Advance skills in MS-Access, Visual Basic, SQL, and MS Office.
• Advanced knowledge of software engineering theory and applications.
• Advance skills in working with relational databases and knowledge of programming theory.
• Very good ability in topographical map reading.
• Good working knowledge of both written and spoken English.
• Flexible and adaptable to any situation.
• Ability to work under pressure and long hours.
• Posses good work habits with a willingness to work in a multi-cultural environment.
