The American University of Afghanistan seeks system administrator for its learning management systems (LMS), library management system and student information system (SIS). At the start of the employment the focus will be on the SIS which tracks and provides interfaces for the University’s academic records and the LMS which provides online course material and e-learning programs. The SIS is based in the PowerCampus software package based on Microsoft SQL Server. The LMS (Moodle) is based on Open Source system based on PHP and MySQL. AUAF is also in the process of implementing a MS SharePoint based LMS as part of the PowerCampus software package. This person will be responsible for administering the databases, troubleshooting system problems, maintaining system security and generating reports. The successful candidate will have experience administering a SQL database and associated applications and will demonstrate above-par levels of integrity with the responsibility of safeguarding the University’s academic records.
• Administer PowerCampus and Moodle accounts and account security
• Administer PowerCampus-based internal and external website
• Administer PowerCampus-based and Moodle-based LMS sites
• Respond to and solve system problems
• Work with Admissions, Registration and Finance departments and academia to create and improve system-based solutions for office tasks
• Ensure staff remained trained and effective at using the SIS
• Create institutional as well as practical reports for various departments, senior administration and faculty
• Work on integrating third-party systems in to the SIS to create seamless dataflow within departments
Requested Skills and Experience
• SQL proficiency
• Experience using and administering Microsoft SQL Server, including security
• Experience using and administering Microsoft SQL Reporting Services, including security
• Experience with professional-grade Microsoft products
• Experience delivering solutions to multiple internal or external customers
• Experience configuring and administering Linux based systems
• Knowledge of and exposure to CRM systems
• Programming experience (PHP and .NET) preferred
Other Qualifications
• Highly tuned problem-solving ability
• Above-par English communication skills
• High level of integrity and an evolved concept of responsibility
• Preferably speak Pashto and Dari
