Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) is a self-sufficient and independent corporation established under Islamic Republic of Afghanistan’s Joint Stock and Limited liability corporations’ act. This corporation changed legal entity and replaced Da Afghanistan Breshna Mosesa (Afghanistan electricity company), as a national electricity corporation on 15th of Sawr 1387 SH, in accordance with May 04, 2008. Da Afghanistan Breshan sherkat (DABS) commercially manages generation, import, transmission and distribution of the power electricity across the country.

Job Summary

The scope of service for Senior Electrical Engineering Translator, She / he will undertake the following tasks but not limited to

Duties & Responsibilities

·        Translation of training curriculum in Dari and/or Pashto languages and submission of translations in hard and editable softcopy i.e. MS-Word files;

·        Proof Read and edit the translations;

·        Share draft translation with Page partners;

·        Incorporate suggested changes by the reviewers into the translations until satisfactory

·        All texts, including texts contained in figures, boxes, captions, sources and covers requires translation and proofreading;

·        Ensure high quality and accuracy of the entire document before submitting it to the officer in charge of the project;

·         Ensure accuracy of the terms and terminology used in the documents;

·        Ensure that the translation is written with style, correct grammar and spelling, and

·         Complete the work within the agreed timeline and submit the final translation in both soft and hard copy.

Deliverables and millstones:

1.     Submission of draft translation of assigned curriculum for review to TA Project Manager and Project Director.

2.     Handover of finalized translation of assigned curriculum with all Copy Rights before completion of the contract to DABS, represented by the TA Project Manager.

Job Requirements

·         At least Bachelor’s degree, in electrical engineering and Master Degree is privilege.

·        Must have 10 years’ experience in teaching Engineering University and have experience in translation.

·        Work experience full time /part time with International donors such as World Bank, USAID, ADB is preferred or any organization.  

     Sound organizational skills and ability to prioritize and deliver assignments in a timely manner often under severe time pressures

Fluent oral and written English, Dari and/or Pashto

Proficient in PC based applications such as Word, Excel and Power Points Outlook
