PURPOSE OF POSITION
Provide management, design and technical oversight to the construction of different CFW infrastructural projects in Lal Sarjangle and Dawlatyar districts, Ghor province, Afghanistan.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
• To assist the project Engineer in supervising of project staff and project activities in Lal Sarjangle and Dawlatyar District, Ghor Province for a CFW various construction projects.
• Supervise CFW beneficiary selection according to defined selection criteria.
• Supervision of CFW project activities, including supervision of construction supervisor, CFW attendance lists etc.
• Ensuring technical integrity of structures (culverts, wash culverts, road gravelling, short span bridge)
• Train site supervisors in all constructions matters.
• Monitor and instruct site supervisors based on different CFW projects design.
• Following in-depth assessments, looking not only at the technical aspect of the projects (e.g. Road gravelling, canal cleaning…etc), but also at social aspects, work in partnership with the communities.
• Supervise site supervisors about engineering and administrative procedures.
• Prepare monthly reports, which include progress against objectives, issues, concerns and plans for following period.
• Liaise with local authorities, always considering and upholding World Vision’s Core values and objectives
• Make all efforts to maintain a good working environment for colleagues, acknowledging the rule of safety first in order to prevent accidents.
• Reporting of project progress against objectives.
• Surveying for future projects.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Project Engineer.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Credentials:
• University degree in Civil Engineering.
Experience:
• 3-5 years experience in construction engineering.
• Experience in design and assessment of CFW projects
• Capacity building of field base staff.
Critical Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Excellent English communication skills (oral and written).
• Ability to design and document projects.
• Must have good motivation skills.
• Strong negotiation skills with, government authorities, and suppliers.
• Thorough knowledge of MS Office and Lotus Notes.
• Ability to work in and contribute to team building environment.
• Good organizational skills; ability to manage and prioritize tasks.
• Must display very good attention to detail.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Adaptability and flexibility.
