Job Summary

The SBCC Officer will be an FHI 360 employee working and placed at the FP/MNCH office in Kabul. The SBCC Officer will be a member of a six-person team, responsible for assisting with implementation and monitoring of SBCC activities within the donor-approved work plan. The SBCC Officer will report directly to the SBCC Demand Generation Technical Specialist for all operational and technical issues and consult with the Demand Generation Senior Manager and SBCC TA Lead for technical issues, as appropriate and directe

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Assist with SBCC program design, adaptation, implementation, and monitoring with program staff and technical experts;
2. At the direction of the SBCC Demand Generation Specialist, assist with timely implementation of all activities in the approved work plan and conduct field visits for SBCC project monitoring;
3. Under supervision of the SBCC Demand Generation Specialist, coordinate with other stakeholders and assist with technical activities involving co-existing SBCC communications campaigns;
4. Assist the SBCC Demand Generation Specialist in management of local contracts and monitoring of ongoing function and technical trouble-shooting for integral services, such as mass media programming or religious leader training;
5. Assist with adaptation, translation, pre-testing, and required technical review of all SBCC messaging and assist in approvals process with government regulatory bodies; and
6. Keep the Demand Generation SBCC Specialist and SBCC TA Lead apprised of activity progress and carry out other technical, program or senior managerial tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Job Requirements

1. University degree in communications.
2. At least two years experience with SBCC or health communications programming in Afghanistan with national reach. Candidates with social marketing/demand generation experience desired.
3. Ability to translate technical material for programming through various media channels, including broadcast, mobile technology-based, and internet media.
4. Ability to travel nationally for activity monitoring.
5. Facility with Internet and word processing software.
6. Good verbal, written, and editing skills in Dari and Pashto.
7. Strong organizational skills; ability to work with minimal direction.
