Duties & Responsibilities

The duties of the Statistical Officer shall comprise (but not necessarily be limited to the following items).


Monitor and compile statistical information;

Assist to design questionnaires, formats and schedules, design statistical control formats, assist in statistical training materials

Oversee the compilation, design and produce publication, supervise and coordinate statistical activities

Carry out statistical frame development operations

Develop field operation strategies

Coordinate with Central Statistic Office and other agencies with regard to statistical data for KMDP.

Supervise during field operation and must coordinate with the enumerators to generate quality data.

Has to visit the Gozars within Kabul City for assurance of quality and timely data collection.

Prepare implementation strategy of the baseline survey for Kabul City.

Prepare all data collection tools, including survey questionnaires, survey manuals, and other formats for data collection, if such tools are already exist then review and develop them.

Advise KMDP team on data entry and data cleaning procedures.

Statiscal Officer should assist PMU in securing the necessary permissions to conduct field survey in the agreed neighborhoods.

In coordination with social team he/she should liaise with community representative to pave the way for the interviews.

Assist in providing aerial photos all maps & other information to the consultant that maybe required for planning & implementation the field surveys & for the subsequent analysis.

Prepare draft interview format & circulate it for feedback prior to translation in local language.

Oversight of survey process & facilitation with community representatives & KM staff.

Oversight of process of data analysis by consultant.

Oversee preparation of systematic reports & presentation/mapping.

Assist in organizing workshop on the critical findings from the survey exercise.

Do the assessment for economic rate of returnees for each Gozar before starting the project work & the same after completion of the project with assessment of social team.

Reporting to the Program Director on a weekly & Monthly basis or any time required.

Job Requirements

Education: Bachelors in Economic or Mathematics
3.2 Implementing & Designing data gathering/ management computer systems & soft ware

3.4 Length and type of practical experience required: Entry/ Minimum of 4 years of experience as Statistical Officer or equivalent experience.

3.5 Knowledge of language(s) and other specialized requirements:


Fluency in Local Language (Dari & Pashto) and English.

Theoretical knowledge in statistical packages such as SPSS, databases, spreadsheets, and other computing soft wares

Skills on computer, statistical programs for analyzing & gathering Data, aptitude for research activities
