Job Summary

Translation of all research materials.
Participate in collecting secondary information

Duties & Responsibilities

Objective 1: Participate actively to the training
Activities:
To follow and participate actively in the training that will be provided by ACF on SMART SURVEY.

Objective 2: Translate research instruments
Activities:

Translate with precision project documents including survey forms, questionnaireshandouts, training tools.

Recommend adequate wording suitable for local customs.

Objective 3: Act as an interpreter during SMART Survey Training:
Activities :

Ensure that the messages are transmitted clearly and correctly between the speaker and the receiver.

Notify orally any changes in the meaning when passing from one language to another.

Objective 4: Represent the Organisation when liaising with the partners:
Activities :

Explain the activities and objectives of the project to the partners, stakeholders and the population;

Represent the Organisation during meetings with the partners, stakeholders and beneficiaries.

Objective 5: Assist the SMART PM to collect data and information regarding malnutrition and its causes in the study area:

Assist the SMART PM to conduct focus group discussions and individual interviews with the local population and stakeholders.

Assist with note taking and transcribing as needed.

If necessary, type records of interviews

Synthesize and enter the data required for the assessment

Analyze the data

Feedback any information related to an identified problem ;

To provide feedback on the daily data collection and report any problems or issues
To respect the strict confidentiality

Job Requirements

University preferably in Social Sciences and/ or translation
Communication and writing skills – Sense of confidentiality – Good general cultural background

Excellent knowledge (fluent) of English and of local languages in BALKH PROVINCE

Good communication skills, experience of translating, flexibility. To be familiar in the nutrition/ health/ Food security/ wash sectors is an asset.

Prior oral and written translation experience.

Experience translating focus group discussions is an asset

Prior qualitative research experience is an asset

Sense of confidentiality, sense of analysis, and empathy.

Good computer skills and good redaction skills

Good knowledge of the BALKH PROVINCE area and local customs.
Agree to travel at different locations required ( BALKH LEVEL )
