The Systems Administrator candidate will work within the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (MAIL) office in Kabul and as well traveling to Provinces. S/He will oversee the day to day operation of systems infrastructure within MAIL and provide management and support to subordinate IT staff. The candidate will have proven Windows server administration experience as well as expertise supporting complex server and storage area network environments. The Systems Administrator will report to the network manager and chief information officer.
1. Maintain data center environmental and monitoring equipment.
2. Initial electronic knowledge
3. Generator, UPS, Stabilizer and other electrical devices usage
4. Generator services such as Fuel, Engine Oil changes and daily Generator expense
5. Router and switch knowledge and basic configuration
6. Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes.
7. Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions..
8. Provide support per request from various constituencies. Investigate and troubleshoot issues.
9. Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted Parties
10. Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / add new services as necessary..
11. Maintain operational, configuration, or other procedures.
12. Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning.
13. Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required.
14. Oversee management of Microsoft server environment including Active Directory, file/print services and various applications
15. Data backup and recovery
16. Reporting and documentation as required
17. As other task or responsibility assigned by Network Manager and Chief Information Officer
Must has a bachelor degree (Computer Science, Information Technology),
Must be MCITP certified with relevant work experience.
At least must 4 years work experience as a systems administrator, preferably in a large enterprise environment?
Solid understanding of Windows Server 2003/2008, DNS, Active Directory, DHCP, NFS
Symantec Backup Exec or similar data backup applications
Microsoft Exchange Server 2003/2007 installation, configuration and management
Experience with various hardware/software virtualization applications
Ability to effectively troubleshoot complex problems and environments
Solid understanding of TCP/IP and related network protocols
Understanding of power backup and UPS solutions
Structured cabling installation and management (voice/data/fiber)
Basic Linux experience
Excellent spoken and written Dari / Pashto / English skill
Good Interpersonal skills
The ability to multitask effectively as well as to work under pressure
Office administration skills
