Telephone Operator (FSN-04)

Duties & Responsibilities

The position’s primary responsibility is for unclassified mail and pouch operations of the central mailroom serving the Embassy and supports all other government agencies. Also perform duties as Switchboard Telephone Operator on a rotating basis.

Job Requirements

Education: Completion of High school is required.

Experience: One year of clerical experience working for a UN or NGO agency is required.

Language: Level III (Good Working Knowledge) ability in English, Dari and Pashto is required.

Knowledge: Must have a thorough knowledge of Department of State, DPO and United States Postal Service mail handling instructions. Must have a good working knowledge of the organization, functions, personnel and practices of the other agencies serviced by the Embassy.

Abilities and Skills: Basic understanding of Microsoft Operating Systems (ie, XP) and also Microsoft Suite (ie. Office 2010) is required. Must be able to perform data input and data retrieval as needed.
