Boustan-E-Sabz Agricultural Company is principally a market-driven business with access to international markets and with a focus on value-added products using our optimum packaging and storage facilities.
Boustan-E-Sabz (BES) intends to expand into becoming a full-line fruit & vegetable agribusiness by leveraging our fresh produce expertise into value-added fruit & vegetable processing. BES has a comprehensive strategy to both promote exports of high value agricultural products and develop food products for import substitution.
Besides other agricultural services, Boustan-e-Sabz is planning to establish a Fruit & Vegetable Processing Division with a Juice & Juice Concentrate Plant and a Dried Fruit (Raisin) Processing Line. Both lines will be flexible to process a wide variety of products so that BES can produce for specific customer demand. Juice will focus initially on grape, apple, and carrot with future expansion into other fruit and vegetable juices.
Job Summary
The Tomato Production Specialist will lead all aspects of cultivating industrial-grade tomatoes specifically designed for tomato paste production. The position requires expertise in high-yield, high-BRIX (sugar content) tomato production, ensuring superior quality and optimal suitability for processing. The Agriculture Officer will be responsible for implementing standard farming techniques, managing the entire production cycle, and ensuring the delivery of consistent, high-quality tomatoes that meet Boustan’s industrial requirements.
Duties & Responsibilities
Industrial Tomato Production
- Plan, implement, and oversee all stages of industrial tomato cultivation, including seed selection, soil preparation, planting, irrigation, pest management, and harvesting.
- Focus on growing industrial tomato varieties with high BRIX levels (6-8% or above) and optimal consistency to meet processing requirements for paste production.
- Develop planting and harvesting schedules tailored to industrial tomato needs, ensuring a consistent supply to the processing facility.
Seed and Variety Selection
- Identify and recommend industrial tomato varieties that offer high yields, disease resistance, and are specifically suited for paste production.
- Conduct trials of new high-BRIX tomato varieties to assess their adaptability to local conditions and their suitability for industrial processing.
- Document findings from trials and provide recommendations for scaling up successful varieties.
Soil Preparation and Management
- Conduct soil testing to determine nutrient levels, pH, and overall suitability for industrial tomato cultivation.
- Recommend and implement soil amendments to optimize conditions for industrial-grade tomato production.
- Develop and execute fertilization schedules based on soil and crop requirements to enhance yield and BRIX levels.
Irrigation and Water Management
- Design and manage an efficient irrigation system, to provide precise water delivery based on tomato growth stages.
- Develop irrigation schedules to prevent overwatering or under watering, optimizing fruit quality and sugar content.
- Monitor water quality and ensure adequate supply for uninterrupted farming operations.
Pest and Disease Management
- Implement an integrated pest management (IPM) plan to protect industrial tomato crops from common pests and diseases.
- Regularly monitor fields for early signs of infestation or disease and apply timely preventive or corrective measures.
- Use environmentally sustainable pest control methods where possible to maintain a balance between yield and ecological impact.
High-Yield Production Practices
- Introduce standard farming practices and technologies to increase per-hectare tomato yield while maintaining quality.
- Monitor crop growth closely and make data-driven adjustments to ensure optimal yield and BRIX levels.
- Develop operational efficiencies to minimize input costs while maximizing output quality and profitability.
Fertilization and Nutrient Management
- Develop a precise nutrient management plan tailored to the needs of industrial tomato crops, focusing on boosting sugar content and weight.
- Apply fertilizers and micronutrients at critical growth stages to enhance productivity and quality.
- Monitor nutrient uptake and address deficiencies promptly to prevent crop loss or quality degradation.
Harvesting and Delivery Coordination
- Oversee the harvesting process, ensuring tomatoes are picked at peak ripeness and quality for paste production.
- Train laborers on proper harvesting techniques to reduce damage to fruit and maximize yield.
- Coordinate with the production team to ensure timely delivery of fresh tomatoes to the processing facility, maintaining quality throughout the supply chain.
Data Management and Reporting
- Maintain detailed records of all farming activities, including planting schedules, input usage, yield data, and pest/disease management.
- Analyze production data to identify trends and areas for improvement, making recommendations for future cycles.
- Provide regular updates to the Boustan Farm Manager on progress, challenges, and achievements.
Sustainable and Innovative Farming Practices
- Research and implement innovative techniques to enhance the profitability of industrial tomato production.
- Stay updated on global best practices and technologies in tomato farming, adapting them to Boustan's operations.
- Ensure sustainable farming practices that protect the environment while optimizing yield and quality.
Equipment and Resource Management
- Coordinate with the maintenance team to ensure all farm equipment used in tomato production is functional and regularly serviced.
- Recommend and oversee the procurement of advanced farming tools and technologies to improve efficiency.
- Manage the efficient use of resources, including labor, fertilizers, and water, to reduce waste and costs.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, or a related field with a specialization in tomato production.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in cultivating industrial tomatoes for paste production or similar large-scale operations.
- Proven expertise in high-BRIX tomato production, soil management, and pest control.
Skills and Competencies

- Proficiency in irrigation and nutrient management systems.
