Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Committee(MEC), Multi Location
The Translation Team Lead is responsible for leading MEC Translation Team and translation of documents in various languages (Dari, Pashto, and English). The incumbent will report directly to the Senior Communication Specialist.
Salary Range : According NTA salary scale Grade B, Step 1 – 5 depending on knowledge and experience”
The Translation Team Lead will lead MEC Translation Team.
The Translation Team Lead will prepare a translation guideline for standard translation of MEC documents.
The Translation Team Lead will continuously provide mentoring and technical assistance to the translators in order to improve the quality of translation.
The Translation Team Lead will review external translations and make sure they are of excellent quality.
The Translation Team Lead is responsible for translating documents from Dari to English and from English to Dari. The documents are confidential and important administrative documents containing legal terminology.
The Translation Team Lead will handle tight deadlines and deliver documents with very high quality under pressure. The majority of letters and documents are received and must be translated in short order for delivery to Committee or team members, which may require some overtime/ afterhours work.
The Translation Team Lead may be required to edit and re-draft reports done by other team member.
The Translation Team Lead is required to do simultaneous translation between Dari, Pashto & English as & when required.
The Translation Team Lead will make sure translation/interpretation is accurate and undertaken on time.
The Translation Team Lead will ensure translations are appropriate (top-quality) for the target audiences which include civil society, international organizations, senior members of the government, the parliament etc.
Other relevant duties assigned by the supervisor.
Education:
University degree in language studies, legal or similar fields is required.
Experience:
At least 5 years of written translation experience required; experience in simultaneous interpretation preferred.
