Job Summary

The Senior Translator/English teacher will provide all the oral and written translation needs for the Project staff. Under the direction of the Provincial Stabilization Director translations will be provided in English and native languages (Dari and Pashto). The Senior Translator/English teacher will also provide English lessons to Paktika staff. The teacher needs to know how to use different teaching methods according to the English level of each individual staff members. A detailed list of responsibilities is listed below:

Duties & Responsibilities

Objectives and Duties:
The Translator/English teacher is expected, among other duties to be determined, to:

•Under the direction and guidance of the Provincial Stabilization Director, perform written and oral translations of documentation as requested by office staff.
•Coordinate and manage translation requests of the office staff to ensure that all requests are completed in a timely manner.
•Senior Translator/English teacher should be fluent in English, Dari and Pashtu languages written and oral.
•The translator/English teacher should prepare classes to teach the local staff approximately 3 hours every day.
•The translator/English teacher should assess the English level of each individual member of the staff and prepare classes that target exactly what they need to learn. In some case, the teacher will have to provide conversational and pronunciation English classes, in the case of other grammar, vocabulary and written English classes.
•The translator will have to provide group classes as well as individual classes.
•As the staff is moving frequently between Kabul, Sharana and the district, the translator/English has to expect to be teaching between 4 and 8 people at a time.

Job Requirements

•Related certification.
•At least 3 years of work experience as an English teacher.
•Significant experience in the translation of document.
•USAID or other Donor project experience, a plus.
•Fluency in English, Pashto and Dari.
•Excellent verbal and communication skills and pedagogic skills.
