Job Summary

Train and Sustain Operations Mission Area – This Mission Area includes military training/field exercises, cultural
familiarity and awareness missions, and performance in day-to-day operations

Duties & Responsibilities

•Provide accurate translation, interpretation, and transcription services From English to Dari/Pashto and vice versa which includes direct interpretation and translation service during military field training exercise.

•Provide cultural familiarization and intercultural awareness support services. Objective is to familiarize military forces with local customs, traditions, and culture in order to gain insight and duce likelihood of misunderstanding between U.S. forces and host nation population.

•The Translator must provide accurate translation, interpretation, and transcription services as required

•The Translator must provide written translation of general and technical material into and from English to Dari/Pashto

•The Translator must provide transcription of Dari/Pashto audio material into written form (both English and Dari/Pashto

•The Translator must provide idiomatic translations of non-technical material using correct syntax an expression from English to the Dari/Pashto language(s) or vice versa

•The Translator must conduct consecutive and accurate interpretation/translations of on-going conversations and activities; including any colloquial and/or slang phrases/words used that may alter meaning.

•The Translator must provide any and all cultural and ethnic context of translations, interpretations, and transcriptions with an expert linguist’s opinion given to the supported organization or agency as to the most likely meaning/intent of terms, phrases, or statements that may have multiple valid interpretations.

•The Translator must be able to supplement interpretations and translations with information pertinent and specific to professional fields; such as medicine, scientific, engineering, legal, etc. Identify and extract information components meeting military information requirement list criteria. Provide input to reports.

•Provide Translation services both verbal and written in conferences, meetings, seminars, gatherings etc.

•Perform any other tasks related to translation as required.

Job Requirements

•Having at least two (2) year experience in written and spoken translation from English to Dari/Pashto and vice versa
•High School graduate, possessing a degree will be preferred
•Having knowledge of Ms office package and be able to type English, Dari and Pashto language
•Ability to use a variety of office equipment (i.e. computers, copies, fax machines, digital cameras)
•Strong attention to detail and high-level of organizational ability
•Ability to work within a team and provide the highest possible level of professionalism.
