About Nowzad

Nowzad is a Non-Government Organization working to improve the welfare of the animals of Afghanistan; which includes humanely reducing the dog population which in turn will reduce the incidents of canine rabies. Provide animal welfare education for the Afghan people and provide training for Afghan Veterinary Students.

Job Summary

The interns will be assigned to Nowzad NGO for 6 months in order to learn practical veterinary work. 

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Develop their skills by participating actively in the learning process by performing daily clinic tasks under close supervision of the senior vet.
2. Assist other vets on stray and own animal’s vaccination program.
3. Attend dog survey program when required.
4. Responsible for own learning and practice development
5. Assist other Vets in advising people to vaccine their pets against rabies and other disease 
6. Assist with Nowzad team in promoting animal welfare program.
7. Assist with other Vets in collection of wounded and sick animals from different parts of Kabul city 
8. Visits to shelter when asked
9. Assist other Vets during surgeries and other treatments of animals
10. Assisting with cleaning of Clinic areas on daily basis
11. Planning of work activities in diary
12. Ensuring that surgical packs are washed and sterilized within 24 hours of use.
13. Inform Senior Vet if any animals fall sick.
14. Attend training sessions when required
15.  Produce and submit reports in timely manner
16. At completion of Internship, a presentation must be presented to Nowzad Management to ensure Intern has benefited from this program.  

Job Requirements

Must be a recent graduate from veterinary faculty.

Very good command of English (written and oral) 

Very good command of Dari and Pashto (written and oral) 

Ability to work in a team environment

Ability to communicate with persons of various cultures and disciplines.

Good skills of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point) and Internet

Flexibility and willingness to learn

Experience: 

No experience is required. University students who are nearing completion of their studies or graduated and finished their studies within the last 1-2 years can apply for this position.
