About Islamic Relief Worldwide

Islamic Relief Worldwide (IRW) is an international, non-profitable, non-governmental humanitarian relief organization with its head quarter in Birmingham, UK. It enjoys consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations and is a signatory to the Code of Conduct for International Red Cross and red Crescent Moments and NGOs in Disaster Relief. Islamic Relief has been working in Afghanistan for more than 23 years, providing emergency relief and implementing life-changing development projects for some of the most vulnerable people in the country. Islamic Relief set up our first Afghanistan office in 1999. Since then, IRA continued providing assistances in emergency relief, food security, livelihood, education, health, nutrition, shelter, orphan sponsorship, Ramadan and Qurbani programmes.

Job Summary

The Media Intern will support the communications team in content creation, digital media management, and public outreach. This role offers hands-on experience, while developing practical skills in journalism, social media, and strategic communications.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Assist in writing press releases, articles, and reports (Dari/Pashto/English)
• Help produce multimedia content (photos, videos, graphics)
• Support website updates and blog posts
• Help schedule and publish social media content
• Assist in developing social media campaigns
• Help maintain press contact lists
• Support event coverage and media coordination
• Assist with interview transcriptions/translations
• Compile media monitoring reports
• Research trending topics and media strategies
• Accompany team on field visits for documentation
• Assist in live event coverage (as needed)

Job Requirements

Requirements:

• Education: Journalism/Media/Communications recent Bachelor graduate
• Experience: Fresh Graduated with no work experience
• Skills:
• Basic writing/editing skills in Dari/Pashto (English a plus)
• Familiarity with social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram)
• Basic photo/video editing skills (Canva, Adobe tools, or mobile apps)
• Fluency in Dari/Pashto and Functional English
