About Watan Development and Initiative Organization (WDIO)

Watan Development and Initiative Organization (WDIO) was established in 2014 while it was reregistered with the Ministry of Economy on the same date it was established. WDIO was again registered with the government of Afghanistan in 2023 on registration # 3120. It is a non-profit, non-governmental, non-political, and independent organization. The (WDIO) is an initiation of senior Afghan staff, specific professionals from different fields of activities, and other national and international organizations with many years of working experience in Afghanistan's normal and emergency state. The aim of the founders of (WDIO) is to transfer the experiences and expertise from several international organizations to an Afghan organization in order to ensure the sustainability of efforts as well as provide opportunities for Afghans to use their full potential in humanitarian and development activities. WDIO works in partnership with government, development, and implementing partners in the following four fields; Education, Agriculture and livestock, Health, and social affairs. WDIO will try its best to capacitate Afghans and other professionals in the mentioned four fields of services.

WDIO is committed to applying a ‘zero tolerance’ policy towards acts of sexual exploitation and abuse by its personnel. In 2003, the United Nations Secretary-General issued a Bulletin on “Special measures for protection from sexual exploitation and sexual abuse” (ST/SGB/2003/13) (“the Bulletin”). To support the system-wide implementation of the zero-tolerance policy, the Director-General has decided to adopt the standards of conduct and provisions on PSEA set by the Bulletin, adjusted as necessary, to be applied by WDIO personnel, as follows.

Job Summary

This is a full-time position based in Kabul, Afghanistan. The MIS Officer will lead all MIS and data collection activities at the provincial level and support the M&E in reporting and analysis to track the CBE project activities.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Under the direct supervision of the WDIO Provincial Education Coordinator and technical supervision of the MIS Manager the MIS officers will be primarily responsible for all Data entry, and its quality/accuracy assurance related to the CBE project, apart from that MIS officers will be responsible for supporting provincial departments in software related issues.
  • The following are the main responsibilities of the MIS Officer:
  • Support and participate in information exchange and coordination mechanisms with partners and relevant information systems/units.
  • Technical coordination and support of MIS activities of the CBE project and overall, WDIO activities.
  • Advise and support technical experts on issues related to the use of MIS systems and digital data collection to meet the needs of the organization.
  • Preparation and dissemination of technical reports.
  • Designing and developing forms and data collection tools in ODK/Kobo/Enketo.
  • Building capacity of social organizers and related staff members, on the usage of related data collection and reporting tools.
  • Provide technical support and oversee collection, analysis, interpretation, and dissemination of WDIO, CBE projects-related information from routine surveys, surveillance, and diverse contextual information sources.
  • The collection, compilation, and analysis of MIS reports related to the CBE project and other WDIO-related activities in Kabul province.
  • Strong follow-up with related departments for on-time data entry and sharing with the central office.
  • Data quality assurance checks on a routine base, to check that the data is accurate and as per the project standards and norms.
  • Developing well-organized File Management procedures and mechanisms.
  • Any other task assigned by the supervisor


Job Requirements

  • Having at least Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Application, Software Engineering, or any other relevant field.
  • Having at least five years’ experience from an accredited college or university and having a master degree will be preferred.
  • Required Languages – Excellent Pashto and Dari reading, writing, and verbal skills, Fluent in English, reading, writing, and verbal skills.
