Islamic Relief Worldwide (IRW) is an international, non-profitable, non-governmental humanitarian relief organization with its head quarter in Birmingham, UK. It enjoys consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations and is a signatory to the Code of Conduct for International Red Cross and red Crescent Moments and NGOs in Disaster Relief. Islamic Relief has been working in Afghanistan for more than 23 years, providing emergency relief and implementing life-changing development projects for some of the most vulnerable people in the country. Islamic Relief set up our first Afghanistan office in 1999. Since then, IRA continued providing assistances in emergency relief, food security, livelihood, education, health, nutrition, shelter, orphan sponsorship, Ramadan and Qurbani programmes.

Job Summary

At Islamic Relief Worldwide Afghanistan, we are committed to providing young talents with the tools and opportunities to advance and grow professionally, in alignment with our core values: Sincerity, Excellence, Custodianship, Compassion, and Social Justice. In this regard, we have launched a program under the HELP Project Youth Component, aimed at hiring and developing young graduates. This initiative equips them with the necessary skills to succeed in future positions across various departments, while enhancing their employability in the local job market.

The program focuses on building a talent pool that is well-rounded, strengthening both technical abilities and essential behavioral/life skills. Additionally, it provides young individuals with the chance to refine their skills, share their experiences, and contribute meaningfully in a professional context.

Key objectives of the program include:


  • Providing young people with real-world work experience, enabling them to gain both technical expertise and the interpersonal skills needed for successful teamwork.
  • Promoting personal growth by encouraging youth to step out of their comfort zones, take on new challenges, and assume greater responsibilities.
  • Preparing young people for full-time employment by introducing them to workplace standards, expectations, and professional ethics.
  • Equip Youths with Marketable skills.


Duties & Responsibilities

HR Intern -Job Description

IRW-A is seeking a highly motivated HR Intern to join the Human Resources team. The intern will assist with a variety of HR functions, including recruitment, employee engagement, administration, and HR operations. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in human resources and contribute to the overall success of our HR department.

Key Responsibilities:

  •  Support and learn the recruitment process, including posting job openings, screening resumes, schedule the written test, interviews, and communicating with candidates.
  •  Support and learn the onboarding process for new hires, including preparing orientation materials, setting up necessary documentation, and facilitating the smooth integration of new employees.
  • Assist in maintaining and updating employee files, ensuring that all documentation is accurate and according to the checklist.
  • Assist in organizing HR events, employee meetings, and other administrative tasks such as managing HR databases and tracking attendance and time sheets.
  • Ensure HR policies and procedures are followed, assisting in preparing reports related to HR activities, policies, and employee data.
  • Help track employee training needs and support in the scheduling of learning and development sessions.


 

Job Requirements

Educations:


·      Fresh Graduate, bachelor’s degree in business administration, Public Administration, Economics, Social Sciences and any other relevant field.

·      Strong interest in human resources and a career in HR management.

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and familiarity with HR software is a plus.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Positive attitude, proactive mindset, and eagerness to learn.


Experience:

  • No Experience Required- Fresh Graduate


Competency:

  • Competent IT skills - MS Office
  • Good written and spoken English language.
  • Strong command on both local languages (Pashto & Dari)
  • Sympathy with the aims and objectives of Islamic Relief Worldwide
  • Committed & detail oriented.
