Islamic Relief Worldwide (IRW) is an international, non-profitable, non-governmental humanitarian relief organization with its head quarter in Birmingham, UK. It enjoys consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations and is a signatory to the Code of Conduct for International Red Cross and red Crescent Moments and NGOs in Disaster Relief. Islamic Relief has been working in Afghanistan for more than 23 years, providing emergency relief and implementing life-changing development projects for some of the most vulnerable people in the country. Islamic Relief set up our first Afghanistan office in 1999. Since then, IRA continued providing assistances in emergency relief, food security, livelihood, education, health, nutrition, shelter, orphan sponsorship, Ramadan and Qurbani programmes.

Job Summary

The Research Intern will support ongoing academic or applied research projects by assisting with data collection, analysis, and documentation. This position offers hands-on experience in research methodologies while contributing to evidence-based solutions for development challenges.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Conduct literature reviews and background research
• Assist in designing and implement Research methodologies, surveys, questionnaires, and interview guides to gather relevant data and insight.
• Collect field data (qualitative/quantitative) under supervision
• Enter, clean, and organize research datasets
• Help analyze data using Excel, SPSS, or qualitative software
• Maintain organized records of research materials
• Assist in preparing summaries of research findings
• Assist in drafting reports, policy briefs, or academic papers
• Help create presentations of research results

Job Requirements

Requirements:

• Education: Recent graduate in Social Sciences, Economics, Business Administration, or related field
• Research Skills:
• Basic understanding of research methods
• Data collection and analysis familiarity
• Report writing capabilities
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Basic statistical software knowledge (preferred)
• Fluency in Dari/Pashto and English for research writing
