About Islamic Relief Worldwide

Islamic Relief Worldwide (IRW) is an international, non-profitable, non-governmental humanitarian relief organization with its head quarter in Birmingham, UK. It enjoys consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations and is a signatory to the Code of Conduct for International Red Cross and red Crescent Moments and NGOs in Disaster Relief. Islamic Relief has been working in Afghanistan for more than 23 years, providing emergency relief and implementing life-changing development projects for some of the most vulnerable people in the country. Islamic Relief set up our first Afghanistan office in 1999. Since then, IRA continued providing assistances in emergency relief, food security, livelihood, education, health, nutrition, shelter, orphan sponsorship, Ramadan and Qurbani programmes.

Job Summary

Under the Direct Supervision of Medical Doctor, the Incumbent will perform the following Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties & Responsibilities

• Will understand and try to achieve the monthly coverage and EPI indicators.
• Will have an update list of the EPI and MCH dropouts to follow them in outreach sessions.
• Will store, handle, and maintain vaccines per Afghan N-EPI/UNICEF/WHO protocols.
• Will dispose of contaminated waste in a responsible manner to prevent exposure.
• Will provide fixed and outreach EPI activities.
• Will maintain a high level of cold chain management all the time.
• Will respond immediately to any cold chain irregularity using local possibility including sending Vaccines to other closest health facility with cold chain system. 
• Will report immediately any irregularity of cold chain to supervisor.
• Will provide appropriate patient education to prevent dropout and increase coverage
• Will provide health education for her/his client to fix centre and outreach sessions
• Will identify and report problems that interfere in the delivery of services
• Will provide complete accurate clear and on time monthly activity report

Job Requirements

Education:

• Nursing diploma/ EPI courses certificate.

Experience:

• Minimum 1-2 years’ work experience, particularly in vaccination
• Strong Command on Dari/Pashto
• Working experience in the targeted provinces and familiar with concerned community, geography, and culture.
